Updates on Our Team – 2016

We need to officially update the website. However, I would like to update our patients on the status of our outstanding team of patient care specialists.

Jessica Emory (Medical Assistant) – Jessica has been with us for nearly 7 years. She is an amazing assistant and great resource for patients. She will primarily handle surgery scheduling and consultation. She is an excellent resource for patients with questions not only regarding care/surgery but also on insurance plans, disability forms, and navigating the health care system.

Lisa Daniels (Medical Assistant) – Lisa recently joined us in the last 6 months and has been a great addition to our team. She assists with surgery scheduling, patient questions, and helping you schedule appointments.

Sarah Mitchell (Medical Scribe) – Sarah joined our team in 2015 as a medical scribe. A scribe is a person who is in the room with the surgeon and the patient recording the details of patient history, examination, and plan. This enables the surgeon to spend more time directly speaking with and examining the patient and less time typing or taking notes. Sarah also assists with scheduling appointments and placing appropriate orders for medications and care.

Chris Mahan (Physician Assistant) – Chris has been with our team since 2011 and is unquestionable one of the best mid-level providers in Richmond. He has extensive knowledge of hip and knee conditions and often assists with evaluating both new and follow-up patients. He is with us in the operating room assisting with surgery and evaluates all of our hospital inpatients every day. In 2014, Chris received the citywide Bedside Manner Award for mid-level providers. Chis is an invaluable member of our team and trusted by our patients.

Amber Sykes (Physician Assistant) – Amber joined our team in 2015 as a mid-level provider. She has nearly a decade of experience in Orthopaedics and we are so fortunate to have her with us. Amber primarily sees patients in office for evaluation, consultation, and postoperative care. She is an excellent resource for patient questions and provides consistent excellent orthopaedic care.

Amanda Walker (Nurse Practitioner) – Amanda works at Johnston-Willis Hospital as the orthopaedic mid-level specialist. She began in 2015 and has received outstanding reviews. She is on the floor daily with patients in order to answer questions, adjust medications, oversee physical therapy, and assist with discharge planning. She is contact with us several times each day with updates on how patients are progressing on the inpatient orthopaedic floor. Amanda has been incredibly well received by patients and has significantly improved the hospital stay experience for our patients.
